Tiffany Granath Night Calls Streaming

How to make a head mold. (Part II).

a) Now we will prepare the cast:

1. We fill a bowl with 2 / 3 of water, we slowly sprinkle 3 cups of plaster and when it stops bubbling, stir (preferably with hands) until a very thick creamy consistency.
2. Half fill the box with the mixture.
3. We put the head inside the box and with the cast, face up, until it is submerged in the score line just before. Let stand until firm.
4. We have four holes, one in each corner of the mold, which union will serve us, when we do the other half.

b) Another way of putting his head.

Side, for where it has a long pointed nose.
In that case, we draw the line of the head, from the middle of the forehead, nose, chin and the back of the head.

c) Once the plaster has hardened.

1. Vaseline applied to the entire piece and completely fill the box with more plaster.
2. When this second part has hardened, we took both of the box.

d) opening the mold.

Keep in mind that the cast is heated in the hardening process. When cool, it's ready.
1. Hit gently with a chisel or a kitchen knife, after placing a small piece of wet cardboard as a wedge.
2. Separate parts and extract the clay or clay head, with care, because we can serve to make other heads later.

We have made our first cast, in the next post will explain another method, simpler but equally effective.
